The management of Gombe State University (GSU) has officially released and adjusted key timelines for the 2025/2026 academic session, which heavily impacts the 2026 academic year. Staying up to date with the official calendar ensures you never miss crucial deadlines for registration, lectures, or examinations.

Whether you are a fresh 100-level student navigating your first year or a returning student preparing for graduation, this breakdown provides everything you need to plan your academic year successfully.

GSU Registration and Fee Payment Schedule

The academic year kicked off with the opening of the portal for both fresh and returning students. Due to popular demand from parents and student unions, the university management implemented several changes to prevent students from facing penalties.

1.Portal Activation & Inter-Faculty Transfers:February 2026.

The registration portal officially opened on February 4, 2026. Around this same period, the portal for Inter/Intra-Faculty Transfer was activated, giving eligible students the room to switch programs before finalizing their fees.

2.Accommodation Portal Opening:Late February 2026.

The Student Affairs division opened the accommodation portal for hostel allocation. Spaces are always limited, meaning priority was given to freshers and final-year students who applied early.

3.Extended Fee Payment Deadline:June 2026.

Following multiple appeals regarding financial challenges, the Vice-Chancellor approved a final grace extension for registration fee payments, pushing the absolute deadline to June 14, 2026.

Important Notice for Returning Students: The university issued a strict reminder to all 200, 300, 400, and 500-level students who haven’t printed their JAMB admission letters to do so immediately, as this is required to complete physical clearance. You can check current updates on Student Arrive to stay ahead of sudden adjustments.

  • Mandatory TITA Student App: The university has officially adopted the TITA Student App as the singular approved digital platform for academic information, class scheduling, and official circulars.

  • Passport Photograph Upload: All students must log into their personal portal dashboards and upload a clear passport photograph to ensure their new computerized Student ID Cards can be generated.

  • NELFUND Beneficiaries: If your name appeared on the first batch of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) list, make sure to visit the Student Representative Council (SRC) desk to clear your institutional billing setup.

Simple Strategies to Survive the GSU 2026 Academic Speed

With the condensed schedule resulting from registration extensions, the semesters are moving faster than usual. Use these structural tips to stay on top of your game:

  1. Finish Registration Early: Delaying your course registration blocks your access to continuous assessment pools on the campus portal.

  2. Follow Hostel Rules: The university recently enforced a strict ban on cooking inside rooms and using charcoal within the hostels due to safety hazards. Avoid penalties or eviction by using designated cooking spaces.

  3. Form Study Groups by Week 3: Don’t wait until the 3-week examination window is announced to start reading. GSU exams are known for testing conceptual depth.
