MOST MISTAKES STUDENTS SHOULD NEVER MAKE IN UNIVERSITIES

1. WAITING TILL THE EXACT TIME OR SEMESTER TO START YOUR INDUSTRIAL TRAINING OR PROJECT.
Start your IT & project at least a semester before the initial one as this will help you get everything done ahead of time, to ease you. Do no wait till yr4 before going for your IT/internship, use every holiday to learn something new and interesting, be it in your field or outside of it.
( this is not always a voluntary mistake, I will quote it as an advice.)

2. STUDYING ONLY WHAT IS IN YOUR COURSE MATERIAL
NEVER graduate knowing only things pertaining to your degree, if you do, you will limit yourself. Expand your horizon, know something about everything there is to know.
Go through reference cited in your materials.

3. STUDYING ONLY DURING EXAMS
NEVER read for grades, grades won’t carry you beyond school. Read for knowledge, read to be empowered.

4. DISASSOCIATING FROM OTHERS
NEVER separate yourself from others, Make friends with all sort of people, Regardless of faith, creed, colour and knowledge.

5. ALLOWING WHAT PEOPLE SAY TO WEIGH YOU DOWN
NEVER allow anyone limit you or your ability. He/she is where he/she probably wants to be..you are not yet where you want to be..don’t allow anyone limit you by his/her words, or outburst.

6. MEDIA OVERLOAD
Many students tend to spend hours and hours a day on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites.
Overloading on social media will take time from valuable studies and make it harder to focus on any content not forked over in bite size.
Be sure to outline and block out the time needed to dedicate to each course.

7. PROCRASTINATING
Many students have taken the “wait until the last minute” approach to assignments. Compensate for procrastination include students working all night to complete the assignments on time, like most students do in regards to the Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA).
Remember, careful planning and time management are essential to academic success, there won’t be anyone there as a constant reminder to take care of important task.

8. LACK OF SLEEP
Quality sleep is essential to quality learning.  Students, should endeavor to get quality hours of sleep.
University education only last a few years, but the effects last a lifetime. Be wise in this new found independence by making smart decisions that are good for your future.

9. DISREGARDING YOUR GRADES
NEVER look down on grades, read to have the A’s, do your best to be among the best. If C is what you can achieve with all your strength achieve it.

10. LOOKING DOWN ON OTHERS
NEVER look down on anyone, the poor guy then could be a millionaire after school, the guy who struggled to make third class could come back powerful and rich.

11. ALWAYS WANTING TO BE TREATED SPECIALLY
NEVER think people are going to treat you specially just because you are graduating with a good grade. The world out there is full of people MORE qualified than you. Work out your “salvation”. What saves you is what you can do.

12. WITHDRAWING ONESELF FROM GOD
NEVER depart from God or godly principle, your life depends on him. Without God we labour in vain.
You need God on your best days and on your worst days. Never look down on the power of favour or grace.

13. NEVER EVER GIVE UP!
