Admission to the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), including study centres in Abuja, is currently open. For the 2026 academic year, the admission portal remains accessible from January 1st through December 31st, 2026.

Key Admission Points

  • Application Period: Applications are ongoing throughout the year. You can apply at any time for the current cycle.

  • Abuja Study Centres: NOUN has multiple study centres in the Federal Capital Territory, including the headquarters in Jabi. During the application process, you will be able to select your preferred study centre from the list available on the portal.

  • JAMB Status: While you do not sit for the JAMB UTME exam, it is now mandatory for all undergraduate applicants to register with JAMB for regularization purposes. This is a data-entry process to integrate your records with the national system; you will not be required to write any exam.

How to Apply

  1. Check Eligibility: Visit the official NOUN application portal. Select your faculty and programme to view specific entry requirements (typically 5 O’Level credits including English and Mathematics).

  2. Generate Payment: Follow the prompts on the portal to generate your RRR (Remita Retrieval Reference) for the application fee.

  3. Complete the Form: After payment, log back into the portal using your RRR and Unique ID to fill out the online application form.

  4. Submission & Screening: Submit your completed form online. Once done, you may be required to visit your chosen Abuja study centre for physical screening of your original documents.

  5. Monitor Status: You can check your admission status directly through your student dashboard on the portal.

Important Note

Because admission is continuous, you do not need to wait for a specific “admission list” release in the traditional university sense. Once your credentials meet the requirements and your application is successfully processed, the system typically generates your admission letter immediately.
