How to Gain Admission to NOUN
An applicant for undergraduate admission into NOUN is normally expected to have a minimum of 5 O-level credits including English Language and Mathematics. Additional requirements might apply for some programmes and these can be viewed after selecting the Programme and entry level at the Faculty’s admission page.

How much is noun admission form
The NOUN Post Utme Form is slated for 5,000 Naira Only. Eligible candidates who wish to partake for the screening exercise should pay a non-refundable fee of N5,000 into the University Portal.

Can I apply for NOUN without jamb?
When applying to NOUN, you don’t need to sit for JAMB exam before you can be admitted into the school. All you need do is to apply for admission with your details and follow the registration procedure on their portal.

To put it in a simple way, NOUN graduates don’t go for NYSC for now. Graduates are given exemption certificate, which is the same thing with discharge certificate

How many units are in a NOUN per semester?

Do NOUN students attend lectures?
It has over 75 study centres throughout the country. It offers over 50 programmes and 750 courses. By its nature as an ODL institution, NOUN does not provide lectures to students in normal classrooms except some certain study centres.

NOUN lecturers are not part of ASUU, the institution’s structure would not permit it to go on strike unlike the conventional universities.

Who will process the admission forms?
NOUN will process the forms and admit student directly by itself.

What is the cost of the admission forms?
The cost of the form is 5,000 Naira for undergraduate, 7,500 Naira for Post graduate and 10,000 Naira for PhD.

How will the students be taught?
NOUN will deliver instructions through the following:
- Printed Materials
- Learning Management System (LMS)
- Radio and Television broadcasts.
- Internet (Where appropriate).

Will my certificate be comparable with those from conventional universities?
Yes. NOUN certificate will in no way be inferior to those awarded by conventional universities since the same body National Universities Commission, sets the minimum standard.

How long will it take me to complete my course?
The duration will be dependent on how long a student takes to accumulate the requisite number of credits needed for a final award. For example, a student shall require at least 120,90,60,35 and 70 credit units to earn an award for the Bachelor Degree, Post graduate Diploma, Diploma, Certificate and Masters Degree certificate respectively

Depending upon the time available to you and your workload, you can combine work and your studies or you can study full time and progress at your own rate

NOUN Undergraduate Admission Requirements
- The requirements for getting admission into the National Open University, NOUN include writing WAEC or NECO with at least 5 credit passes in Mathematics, English and 3 other relevant subjects.
- Prospective students are expected to have gotten their result(s) available; as NOUN does not consider AWAITING results.
- Please note that NOUN accepts results combinations i.e WAEC & NECO
- For Direct Entry(DE) into 200Level, you MUST have Upper Credit either in your NCE/OND; as NOUN does not accepts Lower Credit.
- For Direct Entry(DE) into 300Level you MUST have your PGD/HND/BSC
- B.SC Programme is usually 4 Years
NOUN Postgraduate/Masters Admission Requirement
- To get admission into the Post Graduate Diploma(PGD)/Masters, prospective students are expected to have graduated from a recognized University/Polytechnic.
- With your HND/BSC you can do PGD.
- Duration for PGD programme in NOUN is usually two(2) semesters i.e a Year.
- With your HND result you CANNOT do Master’s programme, rather PGD in NOUN.
- With your BSC/PGD Result you can do Master’s programme in NOUN.
- With your PGD Result, you can do Masters Programme in most Courses in NOUN.
- Please note that with your BSC you can only be offered admission in the same faculty you finished from. For example, you studied English (Faculty of Education) and want to do Master’s Programme in Accounting (Faculty of Management Sciences), it’s not possible!
- Duration for Master’s programme in NOUN is usually 3-4 semesters (depending on the Course) i.e maximum of 2 Years.
- Professional qualifications are mostly not considered in NOUN for admission.
For Doctorate Degree (Ph.D), prospective students are expected to have obtained a masters degree appropriate for the proposed areas of study with a minimum of 3.50 grade point on a 5-point scale.
