Studying in Canada is a major milestone for many ambitious students, but managing international tuition fees can be a hurdle. To offset these costs, Humber Polytechnic (formerly Humber College) in Toronto provides several Humber International Entrance Scholarships.

These financial awards are designed to attract high-achieving global scholars by reducing tuition costs across different program pathways, including Bachelor’s Degrees, Diplomas, and Graduate Certificates.

Types of Humber International Entrance Scholarships

Humber splits its primary international entrance incentives based on your chosen credential. Understanding these specific award categories helps you align your academic goals with the maximum possible funding.

1. Bachelor’s Degree Entrance Scholarships

If you are coming directly from secondary school (high school) with no prior college or university credits, you are automatically considered for an entrance scholarship. These awards are unique because they are unlimited in quantity and renewable for multiple years based on performance.

The funding brackets are directly tied to your final admission average or Grade Point Average (GPA):

High School Academic Average (%) Annual Scholarship Amount (CAD) Multi-Year Status
95% or higher $4,000 Renewable annually
90% – 94.9% $3,500 Renewable annually
85% – 89.9% $3,000 Renewable annually
80% – 84.9% $2,000 Renewable annually
75% – 79.9% $1,500 One-time award

Note on Renewal: To maintain your $2,000 to $4,000 annual scholarship in years two, three, and four, you must maintain an academic average of 80% or higher during each year of your full-time degree studies at Humber.

2. General International Entrance Scholarships (Diplomas & Certificates)

For students entering a Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Ontario Graduate Certificate program, Humber offers dedicated entrance awards valued at $2,000.

  • Structure: This is applied as a tuition fee waiver split across your first two semesters ($1,000 per semester).

  • Selection Basis: These are highly competitive and selective. Due to a limited pool of awards, they are reserved strictly for students showcasing the highest GPAs on their submitted high school or university transcripts.

  • Geographic Diversity Rule: To ensure a globally diverse student body, Humber limits these specific awards so that no more than one student from any single country receives the award within the same starting semester.

3. The President’s International Entrance Award

This specific incentive provides a $2,000 bursary to international students who apply to an eligible full-time program. To secure this funding, candidates must meet tight logistical timelines:

  • You must live outside Canada and hold a valid Letter of Acceptance (LOA).

  • You must pay your standard tuition deposit by the due date outlined in your acceptance letter.

  • You must formally submit your Canadian study permit application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) before the designated intake cut-off.

Eligibility Criteria

To be successfully considered for any of Humber’s international entrance awards, you must fulfill the following base conditions:

  • International Fee-Paying Status: You must be a non-Canadian national required to pay international student tuition rates.

  • Full-Time Enrollment: You must remain enrolled in a full-time academic workload past the institutional refund/withdrawal deadline (typically the 10th day of classes).

  • Academic Excellence: Your transcript must show strong performance, usually starting at a minimum 75% to 80% equivalent average.

Application Process

The best part about Humber’s core entrance scholarships is that no separate scholarship application is required.

  1. Submit a Standard Admission Application: Complete your application for your preferred full-time program via the Humber International Portal.

  2. Transcript Evaluation: Humber’s admissions team automatically calculates your entry GPA using the official academic transcripts submitted during your general application review.

  3. Automatic Matching: If your academic records meet the required scholarship tiers, the award will be automatically processed.

  4. Disbursement: The scholarship amount is credited directly to your student account (MyHumber) as a tuition offset after the 10th day of classes. Note: You are still required to cover your initial first-semester deposit and fees out-of-pocket.

Tracking Your Academic Journey

Securing an admission offer and tracking your documentation requires consistent monitoring. If you are a student transitioning from West African secondary school paths, you can manage your local administrative profiles using the JAMB portal login to verify your foundational parameters.

Furthermore, you can actively double-check external verification results through the JAMB result checker option or keep a close eye on your overarching placement options by routinely accessing the JAMB caps login section of the system. Ensuring all regional transcripts match your official credentials prevents processing delays when Humber reviews your profile for entrance funding.
