Apart from this, the paper-based IELTS test is also available up to four times a month.

IELTS Test dates are available up to 4 times a month that means IELTS exams areavailable 48 times acrossthe year. However, the availability ofIDP IELTS exam datesmay vary for the IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training exams. TheIELTS Academic examis available on all 48 dates. IELTS exams are usually held on Thursdays and Saturdays.

IELTS Listening, Reading, and Writing tests take place on the same day whereas either the IELTS Speaking test isconducted 7 days before or 7 days after your test date. Also, it can happen that the IELTS test date may not be the same near your IELTS test location as it is in another city.

How IELTS works?

IELTS can now be taken on a paper and a computer. Test takers going for a paper exam will be taking the Reading, Writing, and Listening sections on a paper with either HB-pencils or a pen. The Speaking test is carried out face-to-face or through a video all with an authorized IELTS examiner. The results of the paper-based IELTS test are announced after 13 calendar days of the test date.

Test takers who have opted for IELTS on computer take the Reading, Writing and Listening sections on a computer. The Speaking test will be on a video call or face-to-face with an authorized IELTS examiner. Computer-based IELTS gives you the liberty to choose from multiple test dates and slots, you can expect your results within 3-5 days.

Steps to book IELTS Exam Dates and Location

Candidates who are looking to book their required test centre and IELTS Dates Candidates are required to do the following:

• Visit the British Council official website and click on Register
• Click on ‘Find Test Date’ and enter in the month city and module of choice
• You will be then redirected to the IELTS Application: Check Test Availability page

IDP IELTS Exam Date

Due to the high demand of students wanting to travel abroad for further education and requiring an IELTS for the same. IDP IELTS India is conducting the IELTS Computer-Based Exam all throughout the months of July and August (with the exception of August 15) in Tier 1 cities. Candidates are required to check the official IDP IELTS India website to choose from the available dates keeping their college registration in mind. Candidates who opt for the pen-paper module of the exam need to check the select dates on which the IELTS exam is available on the official website.

British Council IELTS Test Dates

The British Council is another widely accepted institution that administers the IELTS examination to candidates looking to travel abroad for further education. Candidates can check out the available IELTS General and IELTS Academic Test Dates available across various major cities across the length and breadth of the country. The computer-based module of the IELTS Exam is being conducted all throughout July and August for the benefit of candidates by the British Council. However, candidates who are opting for the pen-paper module need to check the official website of the British Council for available dates for the IELTS exam.

IELTS Test Centres in India

There are two official bodies that conduct the IELTS Test in 77 locations across India, one of which is the British Council with its branches in more than 55 locations. Another recognized organization is IDP Education with its presence in 59 cities. The predefined fee for the exam is INR 15,500 irrespective of the organizational body that conducts the exam. To appear for the IELTS exam or to book the test centre, you must talk to the organization authorized to get the exam conducted. You may choose the organization considering the location that better suits your requirements.

Can I prepone my IELTS exam date?

Candidates can cancel or postpone the IELTS exam. However, candidates can postpone or cancel the exam personally or through email. Cancellation or postponement cannot be done through the telephone.

• If you postpone or cancel your application more than 5 weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund of less than 25% of the administrative fee.
• Candidates canceling the exam less than 5 weeks ahead of the exam will not receive any refund.
• Those who do not appear for the exam will also not receive any refund.
