Most times it is disheartening seeing students waste their hard-earned money in NOUN. It is rather unfortunate that even those that can be referred to as “senior students” still make these mistakes (I mean some students in 200L and above). How on earth will a common man be enriching the already filled purse of the government? There is absolutely no sense in that am sure you will agree with me. Below are some guides in other to avoid this fruitless and senseless “endeavor”.

UNDERSTAND FULLY ABOUT THE INSTITUTION

For you to avoid wasting money it is vital that you fully understand the way the school is being run. It is not enough for you to be a student without knowing anything about your school other than “an avenue to earn a certificate”. Among what you should know include but not limited to:

Her distinct difference among other universities.

The structure of the school in terms of administration.

The academic orientation.

Mode of Education etc.

Let me intimate you with some vital things you should know about NOUN for further clarity.

NOUN is a semester oriented school, that is the reason students are being absorbed in every semester. This simply means that as an individual you do your own thing (academic wise) without paying attention to others (I don’t mean you shouldn’t ask for help from others).

You should also know that the semester payment is compulsory before you are allowed to do anything on your portal and it will be forfeited if you eventually do nothing after the payment. And that you are not mandated to pay if you are skipping a semester which is equivalent to unable to beat the portal closure deadline.

You should also be aware that if you register your courses and fail to register or do the exams it results in skipping such a semester. As such you will forfeit both the semester registration and the exam fees.

2. DO NOT PAY THE SEMESTER FEE UNTIL YOU ARE SURE OF THE COURSE AND EXAM FEES.

This is the mistake most students make when the semester begins. They hurridly pay the semester fee while unsure of the rest of the payments i.e courses and exams. When they could not beat the deadline of portal closure they end up wasting that money. IT HURTS SO BAD!

You should always have an estimation of what you are going to spend in any semester. Having determined that then proceed to source for it if you do not have it already. If you have some part, generate RRR, pay that into your portal, and leave it there until you get the rest. This way, even if you could not beat the deadline your money will still remain intact until the following semester. Do not make the mistake of registering courses while sourcing for exam money unless you are DOUBLE sure of it, many students have wasted their money in this regard.

3. SKIP THE SEMESTER IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF YOURSELF.

Unless unforeseen, it is advisable to skip a semester if you are unsure of the state of your mind as regards your academics. I have seen students failing to sit for exams after doing all the registrations a total waste of resources and time. Some of them blame it on anxiety while others on stress.
